The Biomedical + Engineering Entrepreneurship Academy (BMEA)
is the premier academic program for commercializing science and engineering innovations. It is a springboard for moving research out of the lab and into the world.

This three-day intensive program integrates lecture, exercises and individual projects to help participants learn to identify, design and validate market opportunities for their research.

BIOMEDICINE. BIOTECHNOLOGY. ENGINEERING. INNOVATION. IMPACT. COMMERCIALIZATION.
The 2017 academy is a collaboration co-sponsored by the UC Davis Biomedical Engineering Department, School of Medicine, School of Veterinary Medicine, Office of Research and the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

The School of Medicine is sponsoring this academy as a part of their FUTURE program, an NIH fund initiative aimed at facilitating career exploration for biomedical graduate students and postdoctoral scholars.

The academy is taught by investors, entrepreneurs, university faculty and industry experts who serve as mentors and guest speakers. You’ll gain the knowledge and networks needed to develop the commercial potential of your research or idea.

THE ACADEMY INCLUDES:
  • A three-day intensive on exploring the market opportunities surrounding your ideas and your research;
  • Daily seminars and interactive sessions taught by leading industry executives, investors, and entrepreneurs;
  • The tools to communicate the broader potential of your research and develop a presentation pitch about your idea;
  • Mentoring sessions with industry executives and investors in the biomedical engineering arena;
  • The opportunity to develop a network of professionals in the biomedical and bioengineering fields who can help mentor and connect you as you move forward with your career or new venture.
