In response to the current CAI NHLBI RFA, the UC CAI is hosting the 2nd Annual Medical Device Retreat and Lunch & Learn. UC Innovators interested in starting companies and Technology Development Award applicants are highly encouraged to attend. Applicants will have an opportunity for two-way communication with CAI site leaders and industry experts. The intent is to help applicants write a competitive proposal by providing real time feedback. This is also an opportunity for applicants to give a show and tell presentation to better inform the CAI leaders as to the nature, utility and commercial potential of their invention. Applicants are encouraged to request a time slot (see below). Confidential meetings with applicants will occur between 9:00 am and 11:30 am, and then again between 1:30 pm and 5:00 pm.

*RSVP link is only for the Lunch & Learn event. To apply for an applicant private session, submit a one-page project description (include images, if applicable) to Andria Pontello at apontell@uci.edu

AGENDA
Applicant Private Sessions
9:00 am - 11:00 am Applicant private sessions (in-person or webcast) Session 1

Purpose:

Improve our effectiveness in identifying high quality projects; provide applicants an opportunity to pitch their project and to receive feedback aimed at improving their proposal (and project); provide two way communication in real time between applicants and reviewers / site leaders. This is the best mechanism to evaluate the team as well as the project, expose outside experts to projects for the purpose of providing feedback, and to make business connections.

Format:

  1. Private sessions will be in person or by webcast. The length of the session will be 15 to 30 minutes
  2. Make a short slide deck
  3. Best to bring in a prototype or webcast with it in hand
  4. Keep presentation brief, 10 minutes at the most, to allow time for feedback

To apply for an applicant private session, submit a one-page project description (include images, if applicable) to Andria Pontello at apontell@uci.edu
